In just a few months I will be turning 30. I don’t plan on being a person too considerate of my age. Basically it’s just a number to me and I will still be open to celebrations but don’t come at me sideways asking questions about how old I am or an adjacent subject. I bring my age up on this occasion because I've been reflecting on the benefits of hindsight. I am grateful that I know enough, generally, not to intentionally make harmful decisions.

Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire is one of my favorite least favorite commentators on the right side of the political divide in America. In a recent show he did, he said something to the effect of, the benefit of living a certain lifestyle is that you know what that lifestyle has to offer. This stood out to me because I heard that same sentiment or lesson taught a different way in church. In church I heard it said that it’s better not to have gone through something than it is to have gone through that something and be saved from it.
