No matter who you are it is possible to find yourself in a desperate situation. Desperation is part of the human condition. If you haven’t been desperate before you’ll probably be desperate eventually. When you’re desperate basically all hope is lost. You’ve exhausted your options. As the saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures. When you must take action while residing in a state of hopelessness there isn’t too much that is above you. One thing that hope gives you is decency and decorum. You have too much hope to stoop too low. But once all hope is gone it’s like you’re playing limbo, how low can you go?
Desperation is like buying a put option in the stock market, you want to try to capitalize on a downward trend. Desperation is a worthwhile topic to explore because there is some good that comes from being desperate. Most of the time being desperate doesn’t feel good before, during, or after, but not operating out of desperation when you are desperate can feel worse. Desperate actions have diminishing returns. If you are in a desperate situation and you take desperate action, if those actions don’t alleviate the situation that is the catalyst for those actions, it will only lead you to make more and more desperate decisions, until you find some sort of relief.
